Thef feasibility study department of the Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company
(IWPRDC) are responsible for conducting studies related to hydropower projects (including conventional power
plant and unconventional pumped-storage projects), water resource control projects in the border areas of
western Iran—including the Sirwan, Garmsiri, Zab (Kalas), and Chowman basins—as well as water supply and
transfer projects across other parts of Iran.
Currently, by the year 2032 (corresponding to the year 2032/2033 CE), studies of 15 water and hydropower
projects with a total power plant capacity of about 2400 MW and a total reservoir volume of
more than 5 billion cubic meters are being carried out in various stages of studies.
It is worth noting that the performance record of study department includes the completion of studies
of projects that are currently operational or under construction.

Such projects include the Cheshme Bel spring restoration project, Siahbisheh dam and power plants
(pumped storage), Rudbar Lorestan, Karun 2, Bakhtiari, Khersan 3, Sardasht, Aras (Qarachilar and Megri),
Ilam (pumped storage), Tang-Mashoureh, Kani-Guizhan, etc. The distribution of current projects of
the Study Projects Unit is shown in Figure 1.
Examples of such projects include the Cheshmeh-Bel Rehabilitation Project, the Siah Bisheh Dam and
Power Plants (Pumped-Storage), Rudbar Lorestan, Karun 2, Bakhtiari, Khersan 3, Sardasht, Aras (Qareh
Chilar and Maghari), Ilam (Pumped-Storage), Tang-e Mashureh, Kani Goyzhan, and others.
The distribution of the current projects managed by the Study Projects Unit is shown in Figure 1.
